Pastor's Pen

9 April 2017

When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen:
“Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!"
“Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” - Luke 19. 37-38

Winston Churchill in a speech in the House of Commons on 11th November 1947:  "It has been said that democracy is the worst form of Government - except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time".
Churchill passionately believed in democracy and in the power of the individual to have a say in how their country is governed.

Churchill also realised the limitations of democracy when the masses determine how the country is governed.  What is popular is not always best for the country, and what is best for the country is not always popular!
What form of government does God use?  Baptists use a "Christocracy" model of church government in which together we discern the will of Christ.

On Palm Sunday we reflect that Christ is the King, Christ is the ruler of heaven and earth and we the people of God have the immense privilege to live under the eternal rule of Christ through the Kingdom of God that is being revealed.
May you know the joy of following Christ in this way.
